Pederson's Agri-SV, Inc. -- Case IH dealer by Olivia Richards, Herman Review Pederson's Agri-SV, Inc., has been part of Herman's main street for 48 years, at 501 Pacific Avenue North, having its beginning when Pederson Implement was founded by Lee Pederson of Herman in 1955. For many years, Lee was the parts man and salesman, as well as the owner. He became director when the company was incorporated on July 1, 1974. Now retired, he can still be found at the business doing his share during the busy season. When the business incorporated, it included Dany and Mike Pederson, sons of Lee and Fran. Dany and Mike are co-owners. Dany is the manager and handles sales, while Mike is the service manager and provides deliveries. Fran was the bookkeeper of the business until March 1988, when she retired, and Kim Oachs became office manager. Third generation, Lane Pederson, Dany's son, joined the business in 1988, after obtaining a business degree from Moorhead State University. Lane is the sales/warranty service technician. Pederson's Agri-SV is the dealer for the familiar Case IH or Case International farm equipment, specializing in tractors and other related equipment. In 2000 CNH Global (Case New Holland) became the new name for the parent company of Case IH and New Holland. The merger of Case IH and New Holland brought new and better services and products for farmers such as the new Concord SDX30 single disk drill, the new Magnum tractor, and Case IH DMI tillage tools. Pedersons are also dealers for Alloway stalk shredders; Belarus tractors; Cub Cadet lawn and turf equipment; Hiniker stalk shredders; J & M grain carts and wagons, and Woods dual loaders. They sell new and used equipment, with a well-supplied parts department. A few years ago a new 36' x 96' parts warehouse was constructed to adjoin the original implement business. Jeff Nachbor is the parts manager and Jim Henricks is the parts person. Kerstin Volker provides parts support and is the computer systems manager. Competent service work on machinery is a big part of Pedersons' business. A 38-year veteran, Gary Volker, is one of the service technicians. He specializes in older tractors, but also works on all Case IH tractors, IH and Case IH combines and other farm equipment. Dale Lent, an employee since 1985, also specializes in older Case machinery, but is also schooled in Belarus tractors, and new Case IH 4 WD's. Aaron Luthi joined the service department as a technician in June 2001. When visiting the business, you'll probably meet Mike's golden lab dog, Penny, and Lane's dog, Casey. Penny likes to eat candy, play ball with patrons, sleeps wherever she wants, and bugs Casey. The spring sale and open house is scheduled for Friday, March 21, at Pederson's Agri-SV. Specials are offered to farmers who are making plans to start spring's work. The traditional barbecue lunch is well attended. In tune with the times, Pedersons Agri-SV, Inc. has a nice website at www.pedersonsag.com. Business hours are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. (in season), and Saturdays, 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. The telephone number is 320-677-2255. |
