Doug Oachs Insurance Agency --   farm insurance, homeowners, auto and farm trucks, commercial/business    by Olivia Richards,  Herman Review    Doug Oachs of Herman is the owner/operator of Doug Oachs Insurance Agency. Doug is also manager of Delaware Mutual Insurance of Herman. He can be found within the Delaware Mutual Insurance office on Fifth Street (Highway 27).    The Doug Oachs Insurance Agency provides policies for farm insurance, for homeowners, for auto and farm trucks, for commercial/business owners, and for those with recreational vehicles such as boats, snowmobiles, jet skis, and the like. His agency does not provide crop, health, or life insurance.    Doug can offer various insurance products to be packaged with RAM Mutual of Esko, North Star Mutual of Cottonwood, and Delaware Mutual Insurance in Herman. Commerical business insurance is written with RAM and North Star, and other companies. Auto insurance is written with RAM Mutual or North Star Mutual.    Gerald Oachs, former manager of Delaware Mutual Insurance, was also proprietor of this agency within the Delaware office. Doug bought the agency from Gerald, his dad, in January, 2000, at the same time he became manager of Delaware Mutual Insurance.    Doug is a 1978 graduate of Herman-Norcross Community School. He went on to attend North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton, graduating with a degree in agri-business. He returned home to farm in 1981, and helped with construction work until 1999, when he began to take classes to enter the insurance profession.    He participates in continuing education through seminars sponsored by RAM or North Star, and other independent insurance companies, or the Minnesota Association of Farm Mutual Insurance companies.    Still taking an interest in farming, he lives in rural Herman with his wife, Kim, and their two boys, Jared in first grade, and Brian in fifth grade. Through Community Education at the H-N school, Doug is helping to coach elementary basketball. He and others are coaching kids in kindergarten through third grade to learn the fundamentals. He admits to liking sports in general.    To serve his community and church, Doug is on the board at Bethel Lutheran Church in Herman, is clerk of the Macsville Township board, and is a member of the Lakeside Cemetery board.    If you have inquiries concerning insurance that Doug offers, please call him at 320-677-2274, or stop by and visit with him at the office.
